Take Care ClinicsSM at Select Walgreens Now Offering Sports and Camp Physicals for Just $35

Limited Time Offer Runs Through April 30

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., February 10, 2011 - Take Care Health Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Walgreen Co. (NYSE, NASDAQ: WAG) and the nation's largest and most comprehensive manager of convenient care clinics and employer-based health and wellness centers, is offering a convenient and affordable solution to enable children to receive required physical screenings before sports and summer camp season. Through April 30, Take Care Clinics located at select Walgreens drugstores, will be offering sports and camp physicals for just $35. The physicals, regularly $60, are administered by board certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

“Sports and camp physicals are a great opportunity for families to interact with a trusted health care professional who can identify children who might be at risk for illness or injury during certain activities,” said Sandra Festa Ryan, RN, MSN, CPNP, FAANP and chief nurse practitioner officer for Take Care Health Systems. “During the examination, Take Care Clinics’ nurse practitioners and physician assistants screen patients for specified health care conditions, check whether immunizations are up-to-date and answer any questions parents may have regarding their child’s development. This is an important time for a face-to-face meeting that can increase and protect the overall health and well-being of a child and the community.”

Take Care Clinics are professional walk-in health care centers located at more than 350 Walgreens drugstores across the country. Clinics are open seven days a week giving patients the option to access a variety of health care services, such as sports and camp physicals, at their convenience. No appointment is necessary.

Take Care Clinic nurse practitioners and physician assistants can also administer appropriate immunizations for school-aged children, such as flu, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis), Menactra (meningitis), Varicella (chicken pox), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and GARDASIL® (HPV). It is recommended that patients bring a copy of their vaccination record and medical history to the Take Care Clinic in preparation to receive a sports or camp physical.

“Take Care Clinics are a high-quality, affordable and convenient option for families with a busy schedule,” said Heather Helle, divisional vice president for Take Care Health’s Consumer Solutions Group. “Our clinics are designed to make access to health care simpler and easier, allowing parents and children to meet with an experienced health care professional without having to worry about setting up an appointment. And with this special offer, sports and camp physicals are now more affordable, helping children complete necessary physical exam requirements.”

Sports and camp physicals at Take Care Clinics do not take the place of a child’s yearly health exam and complete developmental assessment. Take Care Health professionals encourage all patients to have a primary care provider or pediatrician who can facilitate this relationship. Patients can be referred to a primary care provider if they do not have one. Visit records will be shared with a patient’s provider if requested and all patients will be given a copy of their visit record to share with other providers.

High school and middle school level, pre-participation sports physicals are not available at Take Care Clinics in Kansas.
