In order for Walgreens Boots Alliance to be successful in helping our customers live more joyful lives through better health, we consider it essential to conduct our business in a way that’s as healthy for the planet as it is for people. It has been a priority of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) team to launch programming and set goals that hold WBA accountable in minimizing our impact on the planet as we reimagine local healthcare and wellbeing for all.

Our commitment to ESG progressed in several ways. We set WBA’s first global emissions reduction target, committing to reduce our absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 30 percent by the end of fiscal 2030, compared with our baseline year of fiscal 2019. We also announced that we're strengthening our commitment to increasing the representation of people with disabilities at all levels across the company’s U.S. segments and redesigning our annual bonus plan in the U.S. to include a disability representation metric to drive this commitment. And we continued to improve in our robust management of health and safety practices while driving purposeful work to improve healthcare access for the millions of people we serve every day.

As such, we are proud to share that WBA not only qualified to be included as part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for the third consecutive year, but also scored in the 87th percentile within the Food & Staples Retailing industry group. WBA was one of more than 10,000 companies invited to complete the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).

WBA values this recognition and the opportunity to gain deeper insights into our ESG performance, which would not have been possible if it weren’t for the collective efforts of our team members, leaders and customers. We take our commitment to improving the health of local communities to heart and will continue to hold ourselves accountable as an ESG leader today and into the future.
