Love often blossoms in unexpected places—even at your neighborhood pharmacy. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, get to know two couples who found love while working at Walgreens. They even share their favorite gifts to give one another that you can find in store.
Robert and Brittany Garnon, Rockville, Connecticut
Pharmacy technicians Robert and Brittany Garnon met while volunteering overnight at a store in their district. They stayed connected for a year as peers before they began dating.
“Our very first date was at a restaurant called Sophia's. And then the next time we went back to Sophia's we got engaged,” Brittany says.
Both Robert and Brittany have been promoted to Pharmacy Operations Managers at neighboring stores, and are now married with two children, with a third on the way.
This soon-to-be family of five is looking forward to Valentine’s Day as they scope out cool finds in their stores.
“Brittany loves roses so those are a must,” Robert says. “I’m happy that Walgreens has fresh flowers daily so I can pick some up on my way home.”
“Rob's obsessed with Star Wars, and one of the things I love about Walgreens is we always have something Star Wars holiday related, like a coffee mug or little candy dispenser,” Brittany says. “As for the kids, balloons and plush animals or Squishmallows are always a hit for Valentine’s Day.”
Jackie and Jay Lawrence, Mt. Vernon, Illinois
Jackie Lawrence had been a Walgreens team member for 17 years before she met the love of her life, Jay Lawrence, who worked in her department for eight years before they crossed paths while working overtime.
After a few months of working together, Jay asked Jackie to go on a date, and six months later they moved in together. Jackie says to prove her love to Jay, she proposed to him, and the couple will be celebrating three years of marriage this year.
“Before I met my husband, I was about to give up on love,” Jackie says. “But everyone kept telling me, when you stop looking it will find you.”
“She is always smiling and laughing about something,” Jay says. “You could not ask for a more caring, loving person.”
The couple will be celebrating Valentine’s Day this weekend with dinner and a movie.
“I already got her gift from Walgreens,” Jay says. “A cute little bear and her favorite Reese's peanut butter cups. You must get your lady chocolate. That is the No. 1 rule of Valentine's Day.”
Jackie is planning to get Jay his favorite chocolate and a sweet card and shared a gift suggestion for those looking to get their loved ones something special for Valentine’s Day.
“Go to Walgreens and pick out items to make a gift basket, such as bubble bath, candles, lots of candy and a heartfelt card,” says Jackie.
This week Walgreens is offering classroom exchange cards for 2/$5 through Feb.10. We are also running BOGO50 on select Valentine’s Day gifting, décor and plush through Feb. 14. Another great deal at Walgreens taking place from Feb. 11 to Feb. 14, is $4 off the purchase of two Valentine's Day cards from Hallmark.
