Transforming primary care: A conversation with Alex Gourlay and Tim Barry, CEO, VillageMD
With the expansion of their partnership in the U.S., two leaders reveal how a unique, integrated model may offer a new way of keeping communities healthy.
At a time when healthcare is more important than ever, Walgreens will be the first national pharmacy chain to offer full-service doctors’ offices co-located at its stores at a large scale, following a highly successful trial begun last year in the Houston, Texas area with VillageMD.
Over the next five years, 500 to 700 “Village Medical at Walgreens” physician-led primary care clinics in will be opened in more than 30 U.S. markets, with the intent to build hundreds more thereafter. The clinics will uniquely integrate the pharmacist as a critical member of VillageMD’s multi-disciplinary team
Watch as Alex Gourlay, WBA’s co-chief operating officer, sits down with Tim Barry, CEO, Village MD to discuss why this integrated model has the potential to bring a much-needed change to how Americans access and interact with primary care.
