It’s been almost a year since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, and the threat of the virus continues to impact our communities. But there’s one small word that’s making big strides to restore a sense of hope: vaccine. Following the eagerly awaited news of a vaccine rollout in the United Kingdom, Boots is continuing to step up, step forward and support the healthcare needs of the nation and its National Health Service (NHS).
Initially launching its first COVID-19 vaccination centers in Halifax, Huddersfield and Gloucester, England, Boots pharmacists like Bhavika Mistry are being specially trained to handle and administer the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. From greeting patients on arrival and guiding them through the screening questions, to administering the vaccine, providing advice and observing patients to help ensure their safety afterwards, Boots pharmacists and their teams are continuing to show the power of community pharmacy in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
