Walgreens Chief Information Officer Tim Theriault Named to Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2012
DEERFIELD, Ill., Dec. 2, 2011 - Walgreens (NYSE: WAG)(NASDAQ: WAG) Chief Information Officer Tim Theriault has been named to Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2012, a list that annually recognizes individuals who have made significant impacts on their organization through technology excellence and leadership.
“This is great recognition for our IT professionals who share a passion for creative ideas, innovative technology and developing IT strategies that can significantly enhance a company’s work environment,” Theriault said. “At Walgreens, we’ve built a sophisticated platform for the future to support an expanding suite of health care services, more than 240,000 employees and our expansive national footprint of more than 7,700 stores.”
Under Theriault’s direction, Walgreens IT team recently began Walgreens 2.0, a multi-year initiative to enhance the company’s technology infrastructure across multiple platforms. The project comprises several key components, including:
- New data center – the new center will feature new technology and bring added capacity
- Scalable health care platform – connecting data across the Walgreens network that leverages new technology to support and further the company’s transformation as a leading health and daily living destination
- Next generation store technology – new store applications, technology and point-of-sale systems to enhance customer service and the overall shopping experience for customers
- Internal technology enhancements – e-mail, web conferencing and mobile upgrades to improve productivity and efficiency
Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leader Awards honor individuals who manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate their IT teams and business colleagues, create a positive work environment, envision innovative solutions to business challenges and effectively manage and execute IT strategies. The awards ceremony will be held in Phoenix, Ariz. in March.
Walgreens was also named to this year’s InformationWeek 500, where it ranked 29th on the list of top technology innovators in the U.S.
